Gela

AR carpet 2024

“Gela” is an exploration of the transformation of information encoding methods, ranging from centuries-old symbols woven into carpets to modern QR codes. This code on the carpet turns into a key to the world of augmented reality, where Gela, the dog who was my faithful companion for several months in Georgia, is reincarnated.

This carpet was inspired by the scientific achievements of Ada Lovelace, who laid the foundation for algorithmic coding and identified the relationship between weaving patterns and computational processes.

"Gela" illustrates how digital technologies influence the preservation and presentation of our personal stories. Illuminating the journey from the physical to the virtual, the project highlights how this shift is transforming our interaction with memory, offering new insights into the ways we document and share our lived experiences in the modern world.
