Tufting, QR code, field recordings
140 × 200 cm

Exploring the richness of local nature, Ellina Gennadyevna focused on studying flora and fauna through the lens of innovative solutions. Field research in the vicinity of the Kerzhensky Nature Reserve became the foundation for a work that conveys a sensory experience close to what she felt in the forest. This led to the creation of a tufted carpet, embroidered based on the sonogram pattern of an oriole’s song: the frequency of the sound waves determines the color and length of the woolen thread, while the texture of the pile evokes the softness of forest moss.
The carpet is complemented by the coordinates of the studied location and a QR code that leads to a page with the original oriole song recording made by the artist herself. This carpet acts as a conduit between nature, technology, and art, creating a space for dialogue with the surrounding world.
